It’s every parent’s nightmare. Those dreaded words come over the microphone: “Plight 438 will have a two-hour delay.” Naturally you are on flight 438. Instead of grumbling, decide to go on an airport scavenger hunt. You will need two adults in order to carry out this activity Have one adult stay with the children while you prepare your scavenger list. Walk through the airport with paper and pencil. Write down items for children to locate such as:
© A handicapped accessible restroom © A store selling pretzels © An information booth © A view of the airport control tower © Rental cars © An espresso stand © A place to get a massage © Airport gift shop
Return to your children (make sure you can remember where they are). Give them the list and see if they can find the items on the list. This can be a group effort, or turn it into friendly competition. Quickly write the list a second time. Divide the group in half and have an adult go with each team. The first one back with all the items checked off is declared the winning team.
