Activities/Toddler Collage

Toddler Collage

You may do this activity in one sitting or spread it out over a couple of days by adding interesting objects as you find them.

Clear contact paper
Scissors
Variety of objects to stick
Construction paper (optional)

Cut two pieces of clear contact paper about the size of a piece of paper, or larger if you like. Remove the backing from one piece of contact paper and lay it on a flat surface such as a table or highchair tray, sticky side up. Tape the corners to the table or highchair tray so that the contact paper won’t move around. (If you’re planning on working on the collage over a couple of days, tape the contact paper to a cardboard box that can be moved out of the way when you’re not working on it.)
Provide a variety of interesting objects for your toddler to stick to the contact paper. Try scraps of tissue or wrapping paper, bits of colorful yarn or ribbon, small pieces of pasta, cotton balls, or leaves or flower petals. When her collage is done, cover it with the other piece of contact paper, or use a piece of construction paper instead. Hang in a window or on the wall for all to admire, or use as a unique place mat.
