It’s not as hard as it sounds. Once the list is made, all you have to do is carry out the ideas. On a day when you have some peace and quiet (does such a day exist?), come up with fifty-two family activities. If you need ideas, just look through this book! They don’t have to be elaborate or expensive. You’ll then give your children a packet with fifty-two slips of paper, each listing something to do. Pick a day each week when a child selects one slip of paper. Then decide when during the week that event will take place. Perhaps the activity is, “Go out for ice cream sundaes,” or, “Build a birdhouse together.” Other ideas are:
• Get $1.00 each to spend at the video arcade. • Play hide-and-seek as a family. • Stay up extra late on the weekend. • Pick out your favorite dessert from the deli. • Go on a bike ride. • Go bowling.
Children know that every week for an entire year, you’ll do at least one fun thing together...and probably many more!
